About Us
Alleyne's High School was originally founded in 1558 by the Reverend Thomas Alleyne who left money in trust for the foundation of a Grammar school for boys in Stone.The School moved to its present site at Oulton Cross in 1889 and became a co-educational Grammar school in 1944 and a Comprehensive school in 1969. A three-tier system of schools was established in 1976, when Alleyne's became a school catering for students aged 13 -19 years.
Alleyne's was designated a Specialist Technology School in September 2003.
The Buildings
The buildings reflect the school's historical development, and have recently undergone significant refurbishment. Its facilities include a theatre, a drama studio, eight science laboratories, specialist technology rooms and ICT suites. The sports complex has a swimming pool, sports hall, an all weather pitch, extensive playing fields and Tennis courts.The original Grammar school buildings provide staff and sixth form accommodation.
Catchment Area
Stone is a market town with a population of approximately 15000 situated south of the potteries between Stoke-on-Trent and the County town of Stafford.The school serves the town of Stone and the surrounding rural areas of Milwich, Fradswell, Hilderstone, Barlaston, Swynnerton, Yarnfield, Tittensor and Standon with increasing numbers of students coming from Eccleshall.
Within the area there are strong pyramid links between the partner first schools, the middle schools and Alleyne's.
